Benny’s passion for food began at a young age, shaped by a family rooted in hospitality and years spent exploring Toronto’s dining scene. With over eight years in the food industry—from restaurant kitchens to premium meat sourcing—his journey into barbecue began in 2018 and quickly became a calling. What started as backyard smoking evolved into Benny’s Barbecue: a commitment to craft, community, and uncompromising quality, using only the finest meats and ingredients.

"Good food creates meaningful memories that last a lifetime." That philosophy drives Head Pitmaster Jason Rego every day at Benny’s Barbecue. From helping his mother in the kitchen as a boy to leading professional pits today, Jason’s 26 years have been a whirlwind of international flavor—from Dubai to Toronto. Now in his second stint specializing in American BBQ, he’s focused on perfecting the craft of slow-cooked meats and elevating the menu for every guest who walks through our doors.

Marco So

Marco grew up with the scent of hardwood smoke in the air, spending his youth mastering the backyard pits of Texas. He joined Benny’s with a singular mission: to perfect the chemistry of the "smoke ring" and the bark. With a background in traditional butchery and a deep respect for the history of American BBQ, he spends his days (and nights) managing the temperatures and textures that define our menu. For Marco, the reward isn't just a great meal; it’s the quiet satisfaction of a perfectly rendered brisket that melts in your mouth.

Kevin Thuan

Kevin believes that a restaurant’s soul is found in the memories it creates for its guests. Influenced by his own journey through the food scenes Toronto, he approaches his role as Manager and Chef with a "hospitality-first" mindset. He doesn't just manage the floor; he curates the entire experience. By blending his culinary background with a deep love for the community, Kevin focuses on evolving the menu and the atmosphere to ensure Benny’s feels like a second home. To him, the restaurant is a stage where great service and incredible food come together to build something lasting.
